7. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Carpal tunnel syndrome is one of the most unexpected side effects that women experience during a twin pregnancy. Carpal tunnel is basically the tingling sensation and the feeling of numbness that you feel in your arms, making it difficult to function.
This is one of the side effects that accompanies only when having twins, triplets or more, while most of the people believe that is caused due to excessive typing, majority of the mothers are unaware that having more than one baby can also trigger it.
The persistent squeezing of nerves results in unpleasant sensations, and experts say that the swelling and fluid retention that is common in pregnancy causes the compression of bones and ligaments in the wrist, which leads to the onset of the carpel tunnel syndrome.
8. Stretch Marks
Stretch marks are one of the side effects that do not leave even when the babies are born.
Most of the bodily and emotional downsides of pregnancies are temporary and are gone once you deliver the babies, but stretch marks are usually not temporary and can last for an entire lifetime. They are caused due to the stretching of skin during pregnancy and they tend to intensify during twin pregnancies, resulting in separation of collagen that leaves pink and purple marks on the abdomen, hips, thighs and breasts.
